Non-Surgical Double Chin Fat Reduction
“According to a 2015 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), 67% of consumers are bothered by submental fullness—nearly as many as those bothered by lines and wrinkles around the eyes (69%)”.
For years, patients and those in the medical industry have been looking for a way to reduce a double chin without liposuction surgery. For many patients, surgery and the risks and downtime involved makes it not an option.
Strict clinical trials have resulted in the FDA-approved Kybella®, a safe and effective way to reduce stubborn submental fat – no surgery or incisions required. It’s the only FDA-approved injectable double-chin-reduction method on the market today.
Kybella® is the first and only FDA approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin (submental fullness) by physically destroying fat cells.*
About Submental Fullness
Patients asking about their submental fullness may, at times, refer to it as their “double chin.”
It is a common, yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition that can:
- Detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance
- Lead to an older and heavier look
- Impact both women and men
- Be caused by aging, genetics and/or weight gain
Your non-surgical Kybella® procedure will be quite short in comparison to most treatments, only taking around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Because it is so quick and convenient, it is considered a “lunchtime procedure,” a treatment that patients can get in while on their lunch breaks before returning to work – no downtime needed.
How It Works
When Kybella® is used as an injectable treatment, the chemical dissolves the walls of the unwanted fat cells that contribute to the appearance of a double chin. Over time, these disabled cells are naturally reduced, and the proportions of the submental area shrink to match the rest of the face and neck.
